What to Wear for a Branding Session

In short:

Wondering what to wear for a branding session? Choose well-fitting clothes in your brand’s color palette, bring a few layers to mix up your look, and focus on simple, polished details that help you feel confident on camera.

Let’s be real–deciding what to wear for your branding shoot can feel like a mini identity crisis. You want to look professional, feel like yourself, and still show off your brand personality. The good news? With the right mix of preparation and flexibility, you can look confident and camera-ready without overthinking it. Here’s how to make it easy.

Dress Like Your Brand (Not Just the Job)

Your outfit should reflect the tone, vibe, and values of your brand. Soft neutrals for calm and minimal brands, bold patterns for creatives, or tailored structure for corporate professionals; wear what tells your brand story visually. Avoid neon or busy prints that might distract, and stick to 2–3 cohesive brand-aligned colors.

Fit, Feel, and Confidence Are Everything

The most important thing is how you feel in what you’re wearing. Well-fitted clothing that moves with you and feels natural on your body will always photograph better than anything too tight, loose, or high-maintenance. If you’re pulling at your shirt or adjusting your sleeves the whole time, it’ll show.

Bring Options and Plan for the Environment

Variety creates versatility. Bring 2–3 outfits or accessories you can swap, like blazers, jackets, or jewelry, to shift the mood mid-session. Think about where you’re shooting too. If you’re outdoors or on-site at your business, coordinate your outfit with the background and always bring layers in case of weather changes.

Ready to Look and Feel Like Your Brand?

WE GOT YOU

Stick to 2–3 colors that align with your brand palette. Avoid neons or overly bright shades that can reflect strangely on skin or clash with your shoot location.
Not unless that fits your brand. Your outfit should feel authentic to what you do and who you’re trying to attract, whether that’s polished and corporate or creative and relaxed. If jeans are part of your daily life or reflect your brand’s casual approach, they can work great–just make sure they’re clean, well-fitted, and styled with intention.
If you wear glasses more than half the time, we recommend wearing them for your session since they’re part of how people recognize you. While there’s always a small chance of glare, we use lighting techniques to minimize it during the shoot and can fully remove any glare during editing. So you definitely CAN wear your glasses (and you probably should).
Professional hair and makeup can make a big difference, but it’s optional. At the very least, go for a clean, well-groomed look that feels like the best version of yourself. If you need suggestions for a team, let us know! We know excellent hair and make-up stylists all over the USA.
We’re happy to guide you! We also partner with professional stylists if you’d prefer hands-on help pulling your looks together.
